The Hair Bow Trend - Wear it Now - StyleList

Shiny bows at Luella Spring 2010. Photo: Getty ImagesBig and small, chiffon and taffeta, hair bows of all shapes and sizes made a recurring appearance on the Spring 2010 fashion Remy hair runways. Worn pinned along the sides of the hair like a middle school girl at Diane Von Furstenberg, wrapped around the head like a perfect present at Jason Wu and tied around a side ponytail at Milly, bows were a beauty headliner. Not since the 1980s have hair bows been this stylish. And the trend seems to be channeling the decade, too. Over the top and oversized (think Madonna during her Like a Virgin days), as well as smaller ones worn two and three at a time (after all, it was the decade of excess) were the most notable styles parading down the runway. Fabrics were equally extreme, with taffeta, chiffon and patent leather among the most decorative.According to the pros, to look less Material Girl and more modern-day, size and placement matter. "The bows on the runway were mostly oversized and eccentric, but for the every day woman, bows that are smaller and understated are more realistic," notes celebrity stylist Michael Boychuck. As for placement, adds Boychuck, gather a small section of the hair on one side and secure it with a single bow.Weaving hairwhich designers made them a top trend.Rob Loud, Getty Images Hair BowsHair bows made headlines at the 2010 runways shows. How-To: Lady Gaga’s DWTS Hairstyles

Shawn Johnson finally got first place—in Dancing With The Stars, that is! Lady Gaga also performed well, taking the stage to sing “Just Dance” and “Love Game” rocking different hairstyles for each. Ken Paves, mane man to Eva Longoria and Jessica Simpson, styled the pop sensation's locks for the big night, complementing her chinese hair strong-shouldered magenta jumpsuit with a similarly futuristic hairstyle for "Love Game" (he refers to the coif as a “glamorous Judy Jetson look"). Using a volumizing spray for added texture, Paves curled strands on one side of the head with a 1-inch curling iron; on full lace wigs the opposite side, he used a flat iron to craft an exaggerated flip, misting Ken Paves Healthy Hair Strong Hold Hair Spray all over to finish. For "Just Dance," Paves flat-ironed Lady Gaga's bob all around, adding lace front wigs extra flair with a lavender-dyed hair extension. “It was based on an old Vidal Sassoon cut called ‘The Veil,’” says Paves. “She loved it and I think it looked sick in the performance!”—Emily HebertPhoto: Retna
